Hello, and welcome to the Eric Horbinski Experiment!
ABOUT THIS BLOG
I’d like to start by just sharing some of my reasons for starting this blog :
- To organize and catalog my thoughts and interests. I am interested in a variety of topics (as I’m sure you will notice) and I am excited to start identifying exactly what about them interests me and cultivating a deeper subject-matter expertise.
- To record and journal feelings and experiences. I used to journal on a regular (i.e. daily) basis, and unfortunately this habit has atrophied. I am certain that only additional clarity in my life can come from revitalizing this practice.
- To practice and improve my writing skills. While enhancing communication skills is critical throughout one’s life, there is added emphasis on this as I am currently studying for the GMAT and as someone who has been out of school I am rapidly realizing that my academic writing tools have grown dull.
- To share ideas and connect with like-minded individuals. I have been following a number of blogs on topics of interest to me (see my links section) and can only hope that I can return the favor for others.
Like many things in life, this blog is an experiment. Like most experiments (in my life, anyways) I needed something to poke and prod and break and fix and in any and all ways interact with in order to learn about it. You see, I’m the sort of person who likes figuring things out. I’ve been actively employed in the information technology field for over a decade and a half, and I wrote my first program on the apple IIe about 25 years ago (my dad gave me the option of getting a summer job or writing a computer program so I took what was to me the obvious choice as a 10 year old). At any rate, you can expect some technology-related content in this blog, but that’s not all. Other topics I expect I will write about include :
- Personal Improvement
- Food and Cooking
- Sociology/Linguistics/Religion
- Leadership/Business
- Books and Movies
- Games and Recreation
Please feel free to comment, subscribe, or directly email me! I look forward to meeting you and sharing ideas – you are all my co-scientists!
